Paw-Mazing Pets: Cat And Owl Become The Best Of Friends [VIDEO]

Meet a black cat named Fum (Smoke, in Catalan) and his friend, an owl named Gebra (Frost). In the video above, the two animals play in Fum’s yard in Tarragona, Spain.

Sadly, Fum passed away at the age of three from renal obstruction. However, I still watch this video because it warms my heart. Take a look at the two at play, and a friendship that relied on mutual respect, trust, and love.

If a cat and and owl can be friends, then can’t we all just get along?

A lot of people think of cats as solitary animals, but that’s not always the case. In fact, many cats are outgoing and loving to people and other animals, as Fum shows! Here are a few things you should know about the myth of the solitary cats.

Despite the cliché about cats preferring to be loners, we cat lovers know that our animals can actually be quite affectionate and loving!

PB.gptStandAlone = PB.gptStandAlone || {};
PB.gptAutoRefresh = PB.gptAutoRefresh || {‘gptAds’:[], ‘gptStandAlone’:[]};
admiralCookie = readAdmiralCookie();

googletag.cmd.push(function() {
var standAloneSizeMapping = googletag.sizeMapping().addSize([0, 0], [[300, 250]]).addSize([750, 0], []).addSize([980, 0], []).build(); PB.gptStandAlone[‘pb_prebidjs_300x250_c_1603149426’] = googletag.defineSlot(‘/4403/th/cattime/ros’, [[300, 250]], ‘pb_prebidjs_300x250_c_1603149426’)
.defineSizeMapping(standAloneSizeMapping) .addService(googletag.pubads())
.setTargeting(‘pos’, ‘C’).setTargeting(‘content_detail’, ‘0’).setTargeting(‘kw’, ‘in-article-mobile’).setTargeting(‘coppa’, ‘0’).setTargeting(‘site’, ‘cattime’);
googletag.enableServices();
googletag.display(‘pb_prebidjs_300x250_c_1603149426’);

if (admiralCookie === null || admiralCookie[‘val’] === ‘false’) {
googletag.pubads().refresh([PB.gptStandAlone[‘pb_prebidjs_300x250_c_1603149426’]]);
}

});

Here are a few facts to know about cats before you judge them as solitary animals:

  • Cats don’t always take to newcomers right away. Many cats are cautious and hide when they see new people or animals. But once they have a chance to warm up, they’re more likely to investigate and interact.
  • Cats are more subtle than other animals, like dogs. They might rub against your leg to show affection, rather than jumping up and down or wagging their tails.
  • Cats can be demanding of affection too! Many cats will jump on laps, walk across keyboards, or sleep right on your pillow, covering your face just to get close to you.
  • Cats are individuals. Some prefer to have their own space, while others can make friends with everyone, including different species, like Fum!

Keep in mind that if you plan to bring home a new animal pal for your cat, it’s best to let them meet each other before you fully commit. Even outgoing cats may not take to every new pet they meet. Go slowly and use caution when making introductions!
